NSW Climate Change Risk and Opportunity Assessment
Let us know your thoughts on the proposed project
What’s this about?
The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), on behalf of the NSW Government have been tasked with preparing a Climate Change Risk and Opportunity Assessment (CCROA) for NSW. A key element of the project is the inclusion of Aboriginal perspectives about climate risk, and how these perspectives should be incorporated into the approach and outcomes of this assessment.
The first NSW CCROA is intended to be delivered by the end of 2024
Aboriginal Engagement
This Consultation is seeking to collaborate with Aboriginal communities to understand their priority risks and opportunities. Through collaboration the assessment will seek to embed the voice and knowledge of Aboriginal people into the assessment process. The assessment will also recognise the significance of Connection to Country, living Aboriginal culture and heritage and the disproportionate impact of climate change on these issues.
- Aboriginal aspirations and concerns for the environment in relation to climate change
- Caring for Country opportunities
- How to ensure ongoing Aboriginal involvement
- How the project can deliver value and reparations to Country and the Aboriginal community
- Innovative and creative design suggestions that embed Aboriginal perspectives into the project
