MURAWIN IS A NATIONAL CONSULTANCY

committed to social justice and empowerment of First Nations communities and other marginalised groups.

Founded by Dunghutti woman Carol Vale and the late Greg McKenzie

Murawin, at its core, is rooted in intercultural collaboration, mutual respect, and reconciliation – with the mission to create impact

by breaking cycles of disadvantage and amplifying initiatives that contribute to economic and social empowerment.

Our organisation works across a wide range of policy areas that directly affect

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities

Implementing our Barri Marruma methodology, we specialise in three core service areas:

RESPECT RECONCILIATION RECIPROCITY

MURAWIN LAUNCH

Armidale, NSW

“We came back to Armidale to launch Murawin, because I wanted to show to other Indigenous kids, that if a mission kid could do it, so can anyone else” – Carol Vale

BATIBA GUWIYAL

2016

Murawin organised, funded and ran the highly successful Batiba Guwiyal Conference in Brisbane focusing on the impacts of child sexual assault on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities across the country.

GAME ENOUGH?

Murawin’s CEO and co-founder Carol Vale was a finalist in the Supply Nation Supplier Diversity Awards for Indigenous Businesswoman of the year.

SORRY BUSINESS

In February 2023, Murawin was thrust into the unknown, having to experience one of the most challenging things that can happen to any company. Murawin’s co-founder and COO Greg McKenzie sadly passed away. As a family business this not only meant losing an integral part of the fabric of the business but the loss of a family member but his legacy lives on in Murawin, his family, collegues and the work we do.

A YEAR OF CHANGE

The devastating loss of Greg and the added hurtful and dissappointing result of the Voice Referendum made 2023 the most challenging year Murawin has had to face. But despite it all, through strong leadership, determination and empathy from our networks, Murawin continued to grow and provide its services to our clients and communities, honouring Greg’s legacy.

LEGACY CONTINUES

As we celebrate 10 years of operations, we look both to the past and to the future, so we have launched a new brand identity, connecting us all to Country, our story and language, something Greg was deeply passionate about.

INDIGENOUS BUSINESSWOMAN OF THE YEAR 2024

In August 2024 our CEO & Co-founder won the Supply Nation Indigenous Businesswoman of the Year award at the Supplier Diversity Awards dinner.

Both Murawin as a business, and Carol personally, have overcome so much in the last 2 years but have continued to grow, lead and create impact, realising the vision that both co-founders, Carol and Greg, had for Murawin.

We are overwhelmed with pride and excitement to see all Carol’s hard work, dedication and sheer resilience recognised by this prestigious award and we’d like to congratulate Carol and our whole team for the work that has been done across our 10 years of operation, as we look forward to the future!
